These works are based on a snapshot of my Vacation Bible School class. My mother took the picture. I am the standing girl on the right wearing green and white checked pants, with my fists clenched and a grim countenance. I was not happy to be wearing those pants, as all the other girls had on their pretty dresses. I know most of the kids in this photo, and how their lives have gone over the decades since we stood out there in the church parking lot. There are lots of good things to say about that, and a few sad tales that have unfolded as well.
I explored this snapshot with scores of drawings, paintings and collages. Here are just a few.
