Mixed Media

These works on paper are made with different combinations of gouache, pastel, charcoal and graphite. I enjoy the infinite ways these media can be combined to capture the physical texture of old things that I see everywhere around my hometown -- peeling paint, rusted metals, vegetation gone wild and overtaking old homes, and so on. I also enjoy the expressiveness of mixed media, so well-suited to capturing the strong emotions, memories and associations stirred up in the presence of old places revisited.
